Added a little something to the spreadsheet

Completely automated. I should have learned to import from eve-central a long time ago.

  1. Hey Parasoja,

Can you give a little more detail on how you are pulling the pricing from eve-central? I also have a question on keeping the prices for components/minerals straight. The biggest issue that I have is that I buy 1k of X at 35 isk/component, then 500 at 40/component. What is the best way to track the cost? Should I average that all out? I know its just space dollars, but I really enjoy the financials of the game.

    1. Hey.

To get numbers from eve-central, the first thing you need is an eve-central API URL for the numbers you want. You can learn how to make one here: http://dev.eve-central.com/evec-api/start

Once you have that, in libre office, go to insert->sheet from file. Paste the URL into the bar and click open. Check the "link" box. When it asks you where the imported text should be split, tell it to use < and > as custom characters.

The result will be a new sheet in your spreadsheet that looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/JSJHoD0.png

At that point you can just set boxes on another sheet equal to whichever values you're interested in and work with them normally.

What I did was use buy orders and put down in my spreadsheet how much I set up the order for. Then, when I adjusted it, I would put down the adjustment cost and add that to the first number. If you buy from sell orders it works just the same, except you have to use the numbers from your wallet in case somebody else bought some of the things you wanted and the transaction didn't happen the way it looked in the buy prompt.

That gives you how much you spend on an item type. Once you have as many units as you need, if you want cost per unit you can just divide total cost by number of units. This method eliminates the need to track individual price points and quantities purchased at each price point.

    2. if you are using Excel, then read my post http://marketsforisk.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/excel-reading-prices-from-eve-central.html which details how to take prices direct from Eve Central

  2. indeed - it makes spreadsheets a lot easier to mean something. Need to be careful though - they are only as good as the inputs. I find Jita prices from Eve Central are up to date and accurate, other Trade Hubs ok (but not great) and the rest less so.
