In which I do a sanity check run before publishing my capital guide

In the spreadsheeting business, this is what "aww fuck, everything is broken" looks like.

For once, though, it's not my fault -- turns out somebody broke rebalanced megacyte and crokite, I assume out of a desire to be an asshole. And, of course, a few months from now they're going to break everything again when the next capital changes come out. Horay.

Anyhoo, now I have to do a second check run before publishing.

  1. Hi, been reading about the capital building guide (yeah the three year old ones), as I have some ISK from the frostlines. Anyway, did some research and it seems like with the current prices it's almost not profitable unless you build in low sec POS with the thukker assembly array.

    1. I'm not completely sure (I'm ~so~ almost ready to finally fix the damn spreadsheet), but I can tell you that that run (8 ships) yielded a profit of 1.2 billion even after all the confusion. That's not terrible. Not great, either, but I think it might turn out to be viable.

    2. Well, after taking into account the manufacturing cost (which can go up to 2% of the sell price) and tax, the margin is very small. And some of the component for sale in the market are made with Thukker Assembly Array, as the price is below the mineral price (for example the capital armor plates).
Anyway, are you adding bowhead into your spreadsheet?

    3. Not if they can be built in highsec, but it's pretty easy to add things in. That said, things that can be built in highsec have always had terrible margins.

Tried a different tack at fixing my spreadsheet, and it looks like it worked. Won't actually know until the check run is installed, but unless I'm completely off base (again), prices look pretty good right now.

    4. Well, comparing to some of the carrier price now, some of the high sec build-able capitals seems to have a decent margin, though you will have to ship them to trade hub from the manufacturing station I guess. Anyway, been working on my spreadsheet (basically more like an import of your's and modified), but looking forward to your update spreadsheet. Still wondering which price I should use for capital sale price. Not sure if I want to just take eve-central's overall number.

    5. Assuming the current iteration of my spreadsheet is actually correct, right now I'm showing good profit (>10%) on the archon, chimera, revelation, phoenix, naglfar, and rorqual.
