Why the unified invintory is objectively bad

Before inferno:

1. Dock.

The corporate hangar is now open to division 1.

After inferno:

1. Dock.
2. Click on the 'unified inventory' button
3. Click on the 'corporate hangars' dropdown
4. Shift-click on division 1.

The corporate hangar is now open to division 1.

tl;dr the unified inventory would be great if it weren't fucking horrible.

Liking the price estimates, though.

  1. Except the price estimate is all over the place. I have no idea what prices it uses, they are not regional prices, nor Jita prices.

    1. From what I understood it uses something like long-time averages over all the regions. Its just a rough estimate, but better than nothing, e.g. if you want to select the right collateral for a transport contract.

  2. I have two big issues with the new inventory.

The first is that it doesn't keep your hangar and items windows open. Supposedly they are working on a fix for this,so fingers crossed.

The second is it is so damned slow. Not only are the windows not already open, but it seems to need to load everything in advance, so even if I just want to see whether I have 200 or 2000 missiles in cargo it still takes 20 seconds to load the hundreds of other items in my hangar before it will show cargo in my docked ship. So... damned... slow...

  3. Let's not lose sight of the fact that the old inventory system was perfectly fine. They pulled dev resources off broken things (like ship balance) in order to break even more things.
